Mid deck joint welded out.

August 23 1998 11 hour: Cut bridge aft section. Chunkout cabintop centre and aft cockpit bulkhead. Weld out lap joint on top at cockpit bulkhead. Tack front end and support with 2 /12" Tbar. Cut and start to fit first 9" half pipe stringer under bridge. Weld out most of mid deck and stitch forward side decks to Tbar. Had my wife help out for 1.5 hr !!!

The bridge deck.

August 24 1998 2 hour: Stitch down forward parts of side decks. Weld out stb mid-side deck joint over Tbar and stitch down stb mid deck ( and picked some blackberries ).

August 25 1998 1.5 hour: Same again on port side except for the blackberries.

August 26 1998 2 hour: Pull last virgin plate and cut out cockpit forward bulkhead and chunkout cabin side corners.

August 29 1998 9 hour: Prep aft cockpit bulkhead. Fab and tack in two cockpit bulkhead frames and use as hoist point to pull bulkhead into place. Wife helped with the hoist and figuring how to squiggle it in ( it was wider than the width between the hulls). Plotted the contour of the cabin front on the mid deck.

August 30 1998 9 hour: Build cabin front support strut on centerline, with 2 1/2" TBar to cockpit bulkhead. Put centre portion of cabin top on and tacked. Split 2x2 rounded corner square tube for interior edge of frame 5 in cabin.

September 2 1998 1.5 hour: Fab and tack in cabin bulkhead frames near cabin top joint.

September 3 1998 1 hour: Cut out cabin top side pieces.

Cabin Interior.

Framing at cockpit edge joint.

Some of cabin framing in.

September 5 1998 8.5 hour: Cut and tack temporary curve brace at cabin top front. Put in frame at stb 3' section for cabin top joint. Tack in stb cabin top piece. This will be a joint on top of 1/4" thick TBAR.

September 6 1998 7.5 hour: Same again on port side and also start layout for cockpit sole.

September 7 1998 6 hour: Cut and fit and tack cabin front plate ( one of five for the cabin sides and front ) Seld out foredeck to midbeam joint to make watertight. Trim aft cockpit side at cockpit bulkhead to improve weldup fit. Weld out mast support bulkhead to mid deck. Move temp stiffners to cabin top sides from middle. Raise sterns 2" to nearly level. It is much harder to jack the boat now that the hulls are not independent. Heard one tack pop while jacking. Now that it is near level the water will fall over the side deck rather than flowing down to the transom and into the hull. Tarped the cabin top as it is supposed to rain ( first rain in 30 days ).

September 12 1998 9.5 hour: Build support for stb cabin corner hull stringer plus tbar. Tack don most of stb cabin corner.

September 13 1998 7.0 hour: Same again on port side except just templated cabin corner.

September 14 1998 2 hour: Fabricated port cabin corner and put in place. Spool gun busted the power feed out the back of it.

September 15 1998 1 hour: Good guys at Robinson Rentals fixed the gun while I waited. Tacked on port corner and pull chunk over for cabin sides.

September 16 1998 1 hour: Start templating side pieces.

September 17 1998 1 hour: Stitch side decks to tbar in prep for cabin sides.

September 19 1998 9 hour: Add extensions to cockpit bulkhead and fit and tack cabin sides.

September 20 1998 5.5 hour: Weld out 1/2 of cabin.

September 21 1998 2 hour: Weld out more of cabin.

September 22 1998 1 hour: Level some more fore and aft. Even just 1/4 tacked up the structure is stiff enough to cause the entire hull to lift with just 1" difference bow to stern when jacking from the stern.

September 26 1998 7.0 hour: Ship Measurer was here and the registration process has begun ( $ ). Weld out most of aft interior seams and stringers on stb hull.

Just broke the 1000 hour mark.
